He is located in Shadyside at the UPMC Center for Integrative Medicine and in Greentree at the Back and Neck Care Center.
David’s Structural Integration (SI) method capitalizes on a vast and eclectic background of education and training in myofascial specialties. His studies include advanced SI training, joint replacement rehab, visceral manipulation, scoliosis care, pediatrics and yoga. He specializes in treating people with chronic pain, pre- and post-surgical issues, physical performance enhancement goals and those managing cancer.
His private practice working with individuals is the heart of his work and the reason for his search for new knowledge and techniques.
Since graduating from Kinesis/Big Sky Somatic Institute in 2003, where he studied KMI Structural integration, his quest for continuing education has been non-stop. In recent years he has been the official documentarian for the most advanced conferences in fascia research. In 2014 David lectured on the role of fascia in the mind/body connection at bi-annual conference at Ulm University, Germany. In the course of which David has forged relationships with pioneers and thought leaders in the field.
David is a spirited speaker, teacher and workshop leader who is available locally, regionally and internationally. He is popular with groups of all types interested in learning more about how structural integration, fascial techniques and fascial fitness can benefit individuals.
David devotes a portion of every year to training practitioners who wish to incorporate these techniques into their clinical practices and for speaking at professional conferences about the emerging field of fascia and its implications across many disciplines.
David’s natural ability to forge successful connections across disciplines has led to collaborative educational video ventures with renowned researchers and practitioners in the field of structural integration and fascia research.
In 2009, David’s previous career in the video arts led to a collaboration with Kinesis director and Anatomy Trains author Tom Myers on the production of Anatomy Trains Revealed, a three-DVD set companion to Myers’ book on holistic anatomical concepts. David has also teamed up with Robert Schlep, PhD, head of the Fascia Research Project at Ulm University in Germany. In 2012, he filmed and produced the proceedings of the Third International Fascia Research Congress and has been invited to reprise this role at the upcoming Congress in 2015. He was also called upon to document the BodyWisdom Spain Congress, as well as Connect 13, the first fascia-oriented sports medicine conference in 2013.
David’s focus on connection extends into the community, as well. He has served on the board of the International Association of Structural Integrators (IASI) and Pittsburgh School for Pain Management. He is a former vice president of the Sewickley Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Previous to entering the healthcare field in 1991, David’s various career incarnations were in television, advertising, the funeral arts. It also included a decade long DJ stint on WYEP public radio in Pittsburgh.
